Microplastics that cannot be ignored
In January 2024, the international academic journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) published a research progress that found an average of about 240000 detectable plastic particles per liter of bottled water.
What is even more worrying is that the study also suggests that when the bottle is squeezed or exposed to high temperatures, it may enter the water as fragments fall off. Even when repeatedly opening and closing bottle caps, many plastic particles can enter the water.
This means that common behaviors in our daily lives may unknowingly increase our risk of ingesting plastic pellets.
How to 'Eat Less' Microplastics
The research results show that by boiling and simply filtering water, up to 84% of nano and microplastic particles can be removed, which is a simple and harmless water purification method that helps reduce microplastics ingested by people through drinking water.
What can we do to promote healthy drinking water?
A series of measures we can take:
Comes with a water cup
Use a whole house water purifier at home
Use of direct drinking machines in office spaces
Use of clean water dispensers in public places
Replace plastic cups with glass cups
